Thomas points out that the Samaritans had little faith, since they didn't ask for miracles (to which Jesus replies), and James of Alphaeus points out that by going to the lands of Samaria, the Sanhedrin might find new accusations against him. Finally, Philip considers this detour a waste of time, but time spent gathering lost sheep is never wasted. Peter sees a man and is certain that someone wants to harm the Master. But he's proven wrong, for the poor fellow brings a possessed woman and has faith in the Messiah.
